Breaking The Press

Breaking the Press is a modern retelling of the story of the prodigal son. Two brothers on a high school basketball team, with their father as the coach is the backdrop for this enjoyable film.

The primary focus of the story of the prodigal son in the Bible is that God loves us no matter what and welcomes us into His arms no matter what we've done. And that is a very important truth. I though the movie did an excellent job of telling that truth.

However, the story of the older son, who didn't leave his father, is also important. The older son's attitude has to be corrected by the father in the Bible and in this film.

"'My son,' the father said, 'you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.'"
Luke 15:31-32 (NIV)

The movie is rated PG for teenage partying, drinking, bikini clad girls, minor sexual innuendo. It didn't offend me, because that is real life. However, it might be offensive to others.
