Do You Believe?

Do You Believe? is a great display of Corinthians 1:18 - "The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God." Boasting an all-star cast, the movie has many storylines, each of them pertaining to a character's faith, or lack of it. The movie is entertaining from start to finish and culminates in a great ending that shows just how important the cross is.

Jesus said we all must deny ourselves and take up our cross daily. What this means is that we must put to death our own plans and desires, and then turn our lives over to Him to do His will every day. Having a commitment to Christ means to give up your hopes, dreams, possessions, and possibly your life if need be for the cause of Christ. It's called "dying to self". When we do this, we actually find our purpose. Matthew 16:25-25 says "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it."

As a Christian, you can't live a fulfilling life by having just faith in Christ alone. James 2:17 states that faith by itself is not enough. Unless our faith produces actions, our faith is dead and useless. This movie caused me to examine my own life, and see how I'm doing putting my faith into action. You never know how your positive actions can bless others.
