I'm Not Ashamed

I'm Not Ashamed is the true story based on the journal entries of Rachel Scott - the first student killed in the Columbine high school shooting on April 20, 1999. Her inspiring story is a powerful example of the difference just one committed Christian can make in the lives of people around them.

Rachel's compassion and love for her fellow students are exemplary. Her hopes and dreams seemed to end with her death, but God was just getting started. Her legacy lives on through the website rachelschallenge.org and its program "Rachel's Challenge". More than 22 million people have had their life touched by this program that makes schools safer by replacing bullying and violence with kindness and respect.

Watching this movie, I was reminded of Romans 12:2 and 1 John 2:15. We are not to love this world and things in it, nor conform to it. The movie showed Rachel's human side and showed she was not perfect. She did fall to the temptations of the world. Even after God got a hold her, she still struggled to be bold with her faith. Even those who have been walking with Jesus for years, can be tempted to do as the world does, not as Jesus says to do.

Rachel's faith did cause her to be persecuted. However, we are told multiple times in the Bible that we will be blessed when we stand up for the name of Jesus. 1 Peter 2:17 tells us that better to suffer for doing God's will, than for doing wrong.
